The Title I Statewide School Support/Parental Involvement Initiative invites you to participate in the 2012 Statewide Family and Community Engagement Seminar, "F-A-C-E-S" at the Holiday Inn, Park Plaza in Lubbock, Texas, March 1-2, 2012.
Family and community engagement that impacts student learning improves student achievement. This seminar is designed to build effective family engagement practices and to create partnerships focused on student and school success. Participants will increase their ability to:
- Develop productive personal relationships among parents, educators and their community.
- Build parents’ capacities to be positively involved in their schools.
- Recognize and address differences among school personnel, students and students’ families.
- Assist schools in creating family friendly environments.
- Link a school’s parent and community involvement activities to improving the academic success of students.
Who Should Attend
The seminar will provide valuable information for parents, educators, pupil services and guidance personnel, school administrators, afterschool and health and human service and other community service providers.
In addition to several keynotes and featured speakers, more than twenty breakout sessions will be presented. TEA staff will offer multiple concurrent sessions that address the most current NCLB/ESEA requirements and legislative updates in parental involvement and community engagement.
